Google is preparing a significant update for its popular Contacts app. With this update, the contact addition page will receive a simpler and more user-friendly design. Here’s what you need to know…
Google Contacts Gets a Sleeker and Simpler Look
In the previous design, the screen was cluttered with various fields, making it look complex. The new design emphasizes only the essential fields—‘Name,’ ‘Surname,’ ‘Company,’ and ‘Phone’—while removing distracting elements. Additionally, the ‘Add Phone’ button allows you to easily save multiple numbers for the same contact.
The new version of Google Contacts includes new buttons for adding email addresses, important dates, or addresses. There’s also a dedicated area for tagging contacts. By tapping the ‘Add Field’ button at the bottom of the page, you can enter additional information like a second name, pronunciation, title, or website. However, these less frequently used fields do not appear immediately.
Google aims to prioritize the most frequently needed information with this new design. For instance, since phone numbers are typically added first when creating a new contact, this field has been given prominence. Icons next to the fields have been removed to achieve a cleaner look.
Google Contacts is becoming more user-friendly and streamlined with version 4.40.48. In addition to the new design, new features under development aim to further enhance the user experience.
